A new and exciting map!

Build up a local area mesh network with Meshtastic™. Use this upcoming project to send the data from your mesh, and create a map of your local area.

This isn’t just yet another map for Meshtastic. This does use the underlying MQTT service, but not the official one.

The official MQTT server has a lot of traffic from all over the world, and enabling it on your device can cause a lot of traffic, and additional nodes to appear. Most of the time this isn’t whats wanted by users. Users wish to only see the actual nodes in their local area, powered by the Meshtastic network.

I started this project wanting to get away from all of the other maps that the fantastic community has created. I wanted to fetch the data directly from the node, not from MQTT. This isn’t as easy as it first seemed, and would require more of a setup than I was willing to ask users to do.

With this project you still utilise the MQTT settings that Meshtastic provides, but I have written a custom MQTT server. A server that can only accept data, and does not send any data back to the nodes. This is a simple setup, and can be done in a few minutes.

This is all still under development, and I am working on it in my spare time. I am hoping to have a beta version available soon, and will be looking for testers to help me out. Until then, please feel free to look around the site, and see what I have planned.
